Welcome to Vienna!

Welcome to the International Conference on “Gene Transfer Technologies into Multicellular Eukaryotes“!

Great progress has been achieved in recent years in gene transfer technologies into multicellular eukaryotes, from plants to human. Human gene therapy, based on an efficient gene delivery system is becoming visible and is one of the most innovative therapeutic approaches in medicine today. It combines the latest research with genetic technologies to treat both inherited and acquired diseases. Unfortunately, actual therapy is hampered by the lack of a safe and efficient delivery system. A similar situation can be applied to plant genetic engineering: despite the tremendous progress in gene transfer into the major crops, existing technologies still have many drawbacks. Thus, the main aim of this Conference is to overview recent advances in the development of efficient, non-toxic, robust, genotype independent gene transfer technologies into multicellular eukaryotes, including mouse, human, major animals, plants and other eukaryotes.

International Conference "Gene Transfer Technologies into Multicellular Eukaryotes" to be held in Vienna on February 13-15th , 2013 will provide leading academy and industry scientists a platform to communicate recent advances in Gene Delivery Systems and an opportunity to identify frontiers and establish multilateral collaborations.

Vienna is located in the heart of Europe on the banks of the Danube River, and considered one of the most important economic, cultural and touristic large cities of central Europe. Apart from providing top science, the Conference will capture the spirit of the city thanks to the central location of the venue offering a multitude of cultural events just minutes away.

The International Conference “Gene Transfer Technologies into Multicellular Eukaryotes” will cover the following research topics:

  • Advances in Gene Transfer Technologies
  • Non-viral Gene Transfer Systems: Physical & Chemical Methods
  • Principles of Non-viral Vector Design and Production
  • Episomal and Other Vectors for Gene Transfer
  • Advancements in Retroviral Vector Design, Generation & Application
  • Gene Targeting, Genome Engineering and Repair
  • Gene Transfer Technologies into Mouse and Other Model Eukaryotes
  • Gene Transfer into Non Mouse Animal Models
  • Mammals Genetic Transformation and Biotechnology
  • Plant Genetic Transformation and Biotechnology
  • Emerging Gene Transfer Technologies

Amongst the invited speakers are internationally known names such as:
Airenne K (Finland), Cathomen T (Germany), Gleba Y (Germany), Harbottle R P (UK), Houdebine L-M (France), Huang L (USA), Ivics Z (Germany), Kamimura K (Japan), Liu D (USA), Niemann H (Germany ), Ohtsuka M (Japan), Park T G (South Korea), Saunders T (USA), Thierry VandenDriessche (Belgium), Vervoordeldonk M J (The Netherlands), Wagner E (Germany) etc.

Approximately 300-350 participants are expected to attend this exciting scientific forum including almost 40 lectures delivered by worldwide known invited speakers and young, talented speakers selected from submitted abstracts. The program combines Plenary Lectures, Poster Sessions, a unique Conference Dinner Party and sightseeing tours of Vienna.

We are looking forward to seeing you in Vienna in February 13-15th, 2013
